JIM ASHLEY 1956 - 1985 STATION AGENT, SENIOR STATION AGENT INW GJT LNK Posted at FL Club James W Ashley 2/17/1930 - 6/6/1995 28 years Frontier 10/1956 - 2/1985 Started FAL in Winslow to GJT to LNK Retired as SSA in LNK -Cork Guenther (6/3/02) Saw your post on his obituary. Did he go by Jim or James? Any other info on him? -Jake Lamkins (6/4/02) He went as Jim. His name was James Waterberry Ashley. About the only other thing I know he was originally from Minnesota. He had had polio and had a snowmobile accident at one time and walked with a limp. He first was a school teacher at a young age before FAL. Wife, Beverly was a teacher in Lincoln and he had two children, daughter, I don't remember name and son Jimmy. -Cork Guenther (6/4/02) JAMES W ASHLEY Born 17 Feb 1930 Died 06 Jun 1995 Age 65 At 68516 Lincoln NE -SSDI (6/24/02) I am enclosing a check for $10.00 and am asking to be put on your subscriber list for the Frontier News. I got a copy of your magazine, issue #23, from Ken Houchens. He and my husband, James W. Ashley, worked together at the Lincoln station as senior agents. Sometime ago, Glenn Emmons, past manager at Lincoln and now in Canby, Minnesota, alerted me to Jim's name on the ESOP list, which I appreciated. I followed up on that, talked to Ms Gallagher, etc., and she sent me a check to close Jim's account. My husband died of sudden heart failure in June, '95. I was glad he had retired early, so he had some very good years to enjoy at home, etc. He and I shared many, many good times and memories with FAL. And I still have those good memories. -Beverly Z. Ashley (6/26/06) The FLamily at Lincoln, Nebraska had a great time at a 20 year reunion on October 7, 2006. We met at The Steak House in Lincoln and had a great meal of Nebraska steaks and other fabulous food. There was much reminiscing and stories told (not all lies) and a great time was had by all. It was great to see all the FLamily again after 20 years. Gone West and in remembrance are: Dean Fisher, Jimmy Zelesky, Oran Kennedy, James Ashley, Larry Witkowski and Marlon Agena. All agreed "What a wonderful place to have spent much of our lives" with the original FRONTIER AIRLINES. -Gerald 'Cork' Guenther (10/9/06) I have some Frontier glassware that I would like to donate to a Frontier “museum”. I thought I had found an address as to where to send such memorabilia in your latest publication of the Frontier News. However, I cannot find the same now, and hope you can forward such address to me. You may forward the information to me by e-mail or my address which is printed above. I appreciate your time to do that. My husband, James W. Ashley, was a senior station agent here in Lincoln for “many” years. He retired shortly before all of the changes began in the company. We enjoyed many “stand-by” flights together enjoying similar glassware. Best wishes to you in your FL publication. It is so special to see the FL logo surviving and alive and remember those times. -Beverly Z. Ashley (4/5/08) Hi Beverly, I've mentioned several museums over the years where Frontier memorabilia could be donated. But I do not recall any in your area. The closest I know of is in Kansas City. I have an exhibit set up at the air museum here and have a few glasses in it. Go to http://fyv.tripod.com/FYV_Museum.html I could use some more - what kind do you have? Do you know about the memorial webpage we have set up for Jim? It's at http://or2.tripod.com/Jim_Ashley.html but we need a photo and obituary for it and anything else you would like to add. Thanks so much for your continued support of the FL newsletter. -Jake Lamkins (4/5/08) Hi Beverly, Do you know about the memorial webpage we have set up for Jim? It's at http://or2.tripod.com/Jim_Ashley.html but we need a photo and obituary for it and anything else you would like to add. Thanks so much for your continued support of the FL newsletter. Regards, -Jake Lamkins (4/5/08) I just now checked out the website you gave me. You have a beautiful museum, and I would be happy to ship them to you for the display. I cannot tell you how many glasses I have as my daughter-in-law is packing them as I am moving to a retirement complex. But I think there are probably two sets with six in each set. (more or less). If it's ok with you, you may send me the appropriate address and I will ship them there as soon as I wade through the rest of these boxes, etc. :) I am so pleased that you are interested. I just knew I wanted to help keep our FAL history alive. And I will be following up with material on Jim for the memorial page. He was indeed a very dear person, and he loved FAL. Good Luck and Best Wishes, -Bev Ashley (4/6/08) Hi Beverly, I will be delighted to display the glasses and any other Frontier memorabilia you want to send. -Jake Lamkins (4/6/08) I have forwarded your address to my son, Jim. He and his wife, Bev., will be sending the glassware to you and also a few other things he and I "uncovered" this afternoon. I think you will enjoy it all. I know you will with all of the interest and labor you have put into your projects to keep spirits alive. I may have to make a journey to Fayetteville to see it. There will also be some items for the FAL memorial for Jim. I appreciate your help in doing that as well. -Beverly Ashley (4/6/08) Hi Beverly, Just wanted you to know your box of Frontier glasses and other FL memorabilia arrived today. Everything was in great shape except one broken glass. Thank you so much! I'll visit the Air Museum tomorrow to work on including what you sent. http://FYV.tripod.com Thanks again - you're great! -Jake Lamkins (5/7/08) You did a great job of assembling all of that material. I am very happy you were able to incorporate the various items into the museum. The pictures are excellent and Jim is up above saying, "Thank you, Jake. You are doing something very special in keeping our good FAL memories together." I am so glad I was able to send the items to you, since others would not have the same appreciation for them. Best wishes to you in all of your ventures. -Bev Ashley (7/1/08)
